    Flying fox

The spectacled flying fox (Pteropus conspicillatus).
They gather in large and noisy colonies. They prefer the rainforests and roost in the middle and upper canopy of these forests in the full sun. The spectacled flying fox’s natural diet is rainforest fruits and flowers from Eucalyptus , lillypilly, fig trees and some others. In the wild they live to be around 12 to 15 years old and have a number of predators , which include owls, pythons, crocodiles, paralysis ticks, power lines and farmers. Females give birth to one animal a year and nurse it for more than 5 months. These creatures are another necessary part of the ecosystem and play a huge part in dispersing seeds and fertilising the abondant rainforests of Australia.
